It is not the purpose of this ministry to live in Peru and teach as missionaries, but rather to travel there quarterly in order to train and equip the local pastors and church leaders to evangelize and disciple those in their communities.
There is an ongoing need for airfare in order for us to go and take materials which can not easily be reproduced in country, and Study Bibles (which are cheaper here and can not be shipped to the country). It is also essential that we go and conduct training sessions for the leaders to be trained in the use of the Train and Multiply Materials. We are always looking for ways to save on airfare, and currently, we have discovered that if we fly out of Toronto, we can fly to Lima for about $515 per person. If we have someone in Peru book our tickets from Lima to Iquitos for us, it's about $100 per person, making the cost of the round trip about $615 per person. Donate a Pastor's Study BibleA Pastor's Study and Devotional Bible is a tool to help equip a pastor for teaching the body of believers in his congregation. These are given at the point where a man who feels called to minister, or who is currently a pastor and does not have a Study Bible when he begins his training. It provides another source of explanation as he studies the Bible. These Bibles have hardcovers to help protect it in the moist, humid rainforest environment.
(NOTE: We have learned that we can purchase Study Bibles in the U.S. for only $10 each, but they must be purchased by the case. We can purchase a case for $200 instead of the $500 they cost in Peru. If you would like to purchase a Study Bible or a Case of Study Bibles, we will carry them down in our suitcases.)

Buy a Bible Story Book or Pay for Printing 10:2 KIDS materials for a Sunday School
Every church we visit, they ask for materials to teach the children. This is a beautiful book of Bible Stories with stories from both the Old and New Testaments. You may donate the money for us to purchase this Bible, or you may wish to purchase it yourself from Christian Book Distributors and give it to us to take along on the next trip.

Sponsor a Mission Trip to a Village
These men have a heart for missions and a call to encourage and train men who have a desire to be a pastor to the people in their community. When they go to a village to minister, they stay two days, sleeping in tents and cooking on a two burner cook stove. They often invite the community leaders and Pastoral students to share their meals. Costs for a Mission Trip include fuel for a boat to village and back to the city, and food and cooking fuel for two days. While they are ministering, they are not able to work at their regular trades to provide income for their families, so this is a great sacrifice, not just for them, but for their wives and children.

Outboard MotorA few years ago, the pastors in Belen were praying that God would provide boats for them to use in the flooding season to transport people to church in the high water. Within a few months, five aluminum boats were donated from donors who were a direct answer to their prayers. These boats are powered by small motors called a pequi-pequi (pecky pecky), which are essentially a lawn mower engine.
Recently, some of the pastors have felt called by God to go to villages in the jungle to mentor young men who desire to be pastors, but have no access to training. Using these small engines, it takes about 2 hours to get to a village. They are now praying for an outboard motor (25 h.p.) that they could put on any of their boats and get to jungle villages faster. An outboard motor would enable them to get to the same village in about 20 minutes, cutting their travel time from 4 hours to 40 minutes, allowing them to cover more villages for training and mentoring. We are currently checking on the availability of a used outboard motor, but the cost of this item could possibly be $1,000. We will update when we have the actual cost.
