Santa Maria de Ojeal

Our Pastors

Santa Maria de Ojeal is a village on the Amazon River, approximately 10 miles from Iquitos, Peru with a population of approximately 300 people. It sits at the mouth of the Sinchicuy Tributary. There are two schools, one church, several bodegas (small stores), an animal sanctuary and a large cell tower in the village that provides coverage for many miles. The residents of the village do have electricity and phone service. Santa Maria is a farming community with cows and chickens roaming free. There is a cement sidewalk that runs almost the full length of the village providing protection from mud during heavy rains. (Scroll down for photos of the village.)

Pastor Raul Tote Monge

Pastor Raul is the Pastor of the Iglesia Bautista de Fe la Verdad (Faith Baptist Church of Truth) in Santa Maria de Ojeal. He has been a Christian since 1973 and he is married with six children. He is the only pastor in the village. He also owns a fish farm where he raises fish and sells them to cover living expenses.

He asked for prayer that God would use his ministry to win many souls in the villages and that those in his church would be able to reach out to each home. Also, his wife has not been feeling well, so please pray for her healing.

Joselito Vasquez Garcia

Joselito is Pastor Raul's Son in Law. He is married and the father of three children. He is a fisherman and also enjoys carpentry work. His great desire is to be a pastor. He spends a lot of time reading scripture and studying the Bible. He said that the study Bible provided by his partners has been a great tool for him. He is actively involved in the church and fills in for Pastor Raul when he is not in the village.

Fidencio Macanilla Pranda

Fidencio is an active member of the church in Santa Maria with the desire to reach the people of his community for Christ. He is married and has 4 children and he accepted Christ April 14, 1987. Fedencio is praying for those in his village and is part of the team who wants to visit his neighbors to begin evangelizing and discipling through Train & Multiply.

Oscar Huanaquiri Mannyama

Oscar is an active member of the church at Santa Maria. He desires to share Christ with his neighbors and to share God's Word with them. He is married with 5 children and has been a Christ Follower since May 5, 1984

Julio is a church leader and elder in the church at Santa Maria. He is married and has 10 children. He has been following Christ since September 25, 1976.

Julio has asked for prayer for him as he disciples others, for spiritual growth in his village and for healing and wisdom for his family.
