Sucré - The Santa Rita Calling
On April 20, 2016, we held a Train & Multiply Training in the village of Zungaro Cocha. Seven churches attended the training, among them a church from the village of Santa Rita on the Nanay River.
Fernando, the pastor of the church, was unable to attend the training, so Hilario represented him with 3 others from the church. Hilario is a student at a Bible College and is working in Santa Rita.
They listened attentively, took their materials and 12 Bibles to be used in evangelism in their village with them and left for home.
About a month later, we were Skyping with Manuel and our friends, Julio and Julia who had come to accept Christ as their savior. As we were Skyping, Hilario came to Manuel's door. He sat down and talked with us and told us that God had called the church at Santa Rita to put into practice the things they had learned at the training at Zungaro Cocha.
He said that God was calling them to a village called Sucré, 9 hours away by boat. Pastor Fernando had already visited the village and discussed this with them. They had already decided on the first week of August for the time frame for the trip. The leaders in Sucré said they were inviting 8 other villages to come to the training with the intention of teaching them how to evangelize in their own villages so they could return after the training and begin evangelizing in their communities.
On May 29, Manuel, his wife and daughter visited the village of Santa Rita to discuss the project with the church. He is planning to return to continue training and practicing with the church to prepare them to conduct the training in Sucré.
The church at Santa Rita has also asked us to help them purchase Bibles to distribute to the villages that come to the training to give to seekers in their communities who want to learn more about the Bible. They will be giving them to the families who are interested in beginning the "Good News" studies with them.
We are estimating that they will need 5 cases of Bibles for this purpose. The cost is $120/case, for a total of $600.
We will need to meet our goal of raising $600 by the end of July so they can purchase the Bibles to take with them on the boat.
CAN YOU HELP?
If you or your family or small group or church would be willing to purchase a case of Bibles to help our brothers and sisters in Sucré share God's love with those in their communities, it would be greatly appreciated!! Any amount will help us reach our goal.
Information on how to give is located on our GIVE page. Your gift is tax deductible.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT!!
